Pilot Bios
Dennis Hall
Dennis always had a passion for aviation while growing up. When a family friend started ballooning and needed crew to assist him, Dennis jumped at the opportunity. Soon he was crewing for a highly competitive pilot and traveling all over the Midwest. After almost 5 years of helping, Dennis decided he was ready to take the next step.
Dennis acquired his Private Pilot License in 2007. His training instructor was Jody Leatherberry, a RE/MAX Associate. Dennis spent the first decade of his flying career focused on competitions, qualifying 6th on the national stage in 2016.
In 2018, Dennis earned his Commercial Pilot License and founded Michigan Hot Air Adventures, a leading balloon riding company in Michigan.
Shortly after he began piloting for the RE/MAX Balloon Program, Dennis sparked a passion for real estate. In addition to being a pilot, he is also a licensed RE/MAX Associate with RE/MAX Real Estate Professionals.
What is Dennis’ favorite part about ballooning? “Sharing this magical form of flight with everyone. When you see a balloon up close it is an experience you never forget.”
Jody Leatherberry
Jody was introduced to Hot Air Ballooning 35 years ago when he owned a local Ford dealership and hired a balloon for an anniversary party for his business. He took a flight that day and was instantly hooked.
Jody started his pilot training 3 months later and earned his Pilot License. He purchased his first balloon to promote the family dealership. He has created a great reputation as a safe and well-respected pilot. Over the years, Jody has trained more than 15 pilots, helping them attain their own Private and Commercial ratings.
In 2000, Jody transitioned to the real estate business and realized that his balloon experience could be used at RE/MAX. He has worked with the RE/MAX Balloon Program for over 10 years. You may have met him after a flight, at an event, or in your child’s school giving a presentation.
What is Jody’s favorite part about ballooning? “Bringing smiles to people. When people see a balloon up close they cannot resist smiling. It is simply an amazing sight to see.”
