Frequently Asked Questions

The RE/MAX balloon can only be booked by RE/MAX Associates and Offices.

To reserve the balloon, please fill out the Balloon Reservation Form. Events are booked on a first come, first served basis. Depending on the time of year, the schedule can fill up months in advance. If you are planning an event, we recommend reserving the balloon for that date as early as possible.

Each eligible office receives at least one complimentary balloon event per year, which can be reserved by Broker/Owners, Managers, or Office Administrators. The number of event credits your office is allocated is based on the RE/MAX Associate count on the first of the year. If you have any questions about your free credit balance, please reach out to balloon@remax-mi.com.

A franchise with 3-18 RE/MAX Associates = 1 annual free credit

A franchise with 19+ RE/MAX Associates = 2 annual free credits

A franchise with 40+ RE/MAX Associates = 3 annual free credits

All RE/MAX Associates are eligible to reserve paid balloon events. An invoice will be sent to the requesting Associate after the event. Please use the Balloon Reservation Form to make your request.

The hot air balloon requires a grassy site that is accessible to vehicles and a minimum of 200 ft by 200 ft. It must be free and clear of power lines, light poles, signs, trees, shrubs, cars, people, or anything that might cause damage to the balloon fabric. There should not be any power lines within 50 feet of any part of the balloon area. Grass needs to be less than 5 inches tall.

The 24′ cold air balloon requires a 40 ft by 40 ft by 30 ft high space which is free and clear of power lines, light poles, signs, trees, shrubs, cars, people, or anything that might cause damage to the balloon fabric.

The bounce house requires a flat paved or short grassy area that is at least 30 ft by 20 ft.

The pilot will discuss the weather forecast with you a day or so prior to the event. He will give you his thoughts on the forecast and how it might affect your balloon event. If the event is cancelled prior to the pilot departing for your event, you can reschedule for another available date. Whenever the pilot and crew travel to an event site, but are prevented from performing due to weather conditions, a $150 weather-out (show-up) fee plus mileage, meals, and accommodations will be billed to your office, or you will forfeit your free event credit. If the weather forces the cancellation of an event, but no travel is incurred, no such fees apply. Charity events are subject to this fee.

Hot air balloon operations are limited to the first or last two hours of daylight.

This can depend on the space provided but normally the balloon can go between 25 and 40 feet high.

For balloon flights, tethers, glows, and walks, your office is required to provide three able-bodied crew members to assist the pilot for the duration of the event.

For tethers, arrange for 3 larger vehicles, not including the balloon truck, to use as anchors for the balloon.

If required, secure any permits and/or permission from local municipalities.

Special clothing is not required for a hot air balloon ride. Practical wear such as long pants, a light jacket, and a hat work best. No sandals or high heels, please!

The RE/MAX bounce house is part of the MAX Picnic experience only, and cannot be reserved on its own.

The RE/MAX of Michigan Balloon Events Team does not provide any food or drink at these events. If you are interested in having your event catered, please contact your local food vendor to inquire about catering options.

A limited number of free school balloon programs and charity certificates are available each year. The application period will be open January 1st – 31st each year. All RE/MAX Associates will be notified via email when the applications are live.

The parade trailer is 10′ long and 6′ wide.

The flat-rate price of the event is all-inclusive of expenses.
